Our Story

Nereide was founded by individuals who appreciated both Mediterranean sailing traditions and the particular beauty of Thailand's Gulf waters. The vision was straightforward: bring vessels and practices that honor classic yacht culture to destinations that deserved thoughtful exploration.

The name Nereide references sea nymphs from Mediterranean mythology, beings associated with safe passage and favorable conditions. It seemed fitting for an endeavor focused on creating experiences that value both the journey and the destination.

We established our base in Mae Nam, Koh Samui, recognizing the area's position as a natural starting point for Gulf exploration. The northern coastline provides calm waters for departures, while nearby islands offer diverse destinations within comfortable sailing distance.

Our approach centers on vessels maintained to standards found in Mediterranean yacht harbors, crewed by individuals who understand both sailing traditions and local waters. We believe in hospitality that balances attentiveness with respect for guests' space, and in itineraries that allow time to appreciate each location rather than rushing between them.

Over the years, we have refined our understanding of what creates memorable time on the water in this particular context. Morning departures that catch gentle breezes. Anchorages that offer both beauty and protection. Meals that draw from two culinary traditions without forcing awkward combinations. Service that feels warm rather than formal.

Today, Nereide operates three vessels, each chosen for specific qualities suited to different experiences. We work with guests who appreciate craftsmanship, who value destinations over destinations-checking, and who understand that the best days on the water often unfold at their own pace.

What We Value

Craftsmanship

We appreciate vessels built with attention to detail, maintained properly, and operated with skill. This extends to how we prepare food, arrange spaces, and manage all aspects of guest experience. Quality shows in small choices made consistently.

Cultural Respect

Mediterranean yacht traditions inform our approach, yet we operate in Thai waters among Thai communities. We value learning from both traditions, seeking ways they complement rather than compete. This shows in crew composition, menu development, and how we engage with local people and places.

Meaningful Experience

We favor depth over breadth in itineraries. Spending time at fewer places rather than rushing past many. Allowing space for unexpected moments. Understanding that the best memories often come from things that cannot be scheduled. Creating conditions where these moments become more likely.

Honest Communication

We are direct about what our experiences offer and what they do not. We discuss weather honestly. We acknowledge when conditions or circumstances might affect plans. We believe guests appreciate transparency and that building trust requires treating them as partners rather than simply customers.
